Peter Vandermeersch
Peter Vandermeersch is the executive editor of the Belgian daily newspapers De Standaard, Het Nieuwsblad since 1999. He is also member of the executive management committee of the media group CORELIO.
After he received his master degree in history at the University of Ghent, he was assistant researcher at the Universities of Ghent and Antwerp. In 1988 he started his journalistic career at the cultural department of the quality broadsheet De Standaard. He was permanent correspondent in Paris and New York. He also was editor of the weekly lifestyle supplement De Standaard Magazine.
From 1997-1998 Peter was a Fullbright Scholar at the John Kennedy School for Government at Harvard University. In 2007 he was the first journalist to be awarded the title of "Marketeer of the Year" in Belgium.
