Robin Sproul
I have spent 34 years with ABC, and have served as Vice President and Washington Bureau Chief for ABC News since March, 1993. Prior to that, I was the Washington Bureau Chief for ABC News, Radio for ten years, and in local radio before that in both management and on-air positions. My expertise is in news coverage and general management, although I have been deeply involved in finance, strategic planning, and program development for our digital platforms. I have also been involved with establishing partnerships between ABC News and other media organizations, mostly for online content sharing. I was a fall 2007 fellow at Harvard Kennedy School in the Joan Shorenstein Center, where I wrote a research paper on exit polling. I have served on the Newseum Advisory Committee, the board of the National Press Foundation (as chairman and vice-chairman), the Radio- Television News Directors Foundation board, the board of Team River Runner (teaching kayaking to wounded soldiers), and the ABC News diversity committee. I have won numerous awards, including Emmy, Peabody, duPont-Columbia, AP, and a Leadership Award from The Women's Center. I am a member of the Gridiron Club and Foundation, a 126-year old private organization of 65 Washington journalists. I have a degree from Ohio Wesleyan University with a dual major: Bacteriology and English. I also attended "Leadership Best Practices" at the Harvard Business School, as part of their executive education program. I am an avid hiker, biker, kayaker, gardener, and reader. I live in Bethesda, Maryland with my husband. We have two grown daughters.
