Steve Jones
Steve Jones was named vice president of ABC News Radio in 2003. In this position he is responsible for overseeing all programming, editorial and operations for ABC News Radio, ABC Radio’s entertainment programming and ABC Radio Sports. Jones also helps shape marketing, publicity and affiliate sales efforts.
Under Jones’ leadership, ABC News Radio has received some of the highest honors in broadcasting, including more than a dozen Edward R. Murrow Awards; 10 International Radio Festival Awards; five National Headliner Awards and three New York Festivals Awards. In both 2005 and 2007, Jones was named by the readers of Radio & Recordsas News Executive of the Year.
Prior to leading ABC News Radio, Jones was vice president for programming and operations for ABCNEWS.com and oversaw all content and production. During this period, the ABCNEWS.com team won multiple awards, including an Edward R. Murrow award for “Best Network News” website and a Peabody award for ABCNEWS.com’s coverage of the 2001 terror attacks.
Jones joined ABC News Radio in 1986 as a writer and editor, covering a broad range of major news stories. In 1994, he began producing ABC News Radio's documentary, long-form and series programming. During this period, his work earned two awards from the Writers Guild of America and an Overseas Press Club Award.
In 1996, Jones was named senior producer, responsible for major breaking news coverage. In 1998, Jones was promoted to director, news and entertainment programming, overseeing a staff producing news and feature content. During this period, he led the effort to develop multiple Websites for the daily delivery of ABC News and ABC Radio Networks' text and audio to its affiliates.
Prior to Joining ABC News, Jones worked on-air in local radio and as a local television reporter for Cablevision’s News 12/Long Island.
Jones graduated from Adelphi University with a degree in broadcasting and business.
